Bill you are right about the Armitage book. I also evaluate general hort
works on the basis of the iris write-up. I have saved a good deal of money by
reading the iris section in the book store. This author has apparently never
seen a tall bearded iris that stands up and recommends staking them all.
I lament any iris book not written by an iris specialist. Unfortunately
there are publishers and writers who think a writer can write about anything
assigned to them. And of course they can, but they usually make a poor job of
it. I do believe the term "hack" applies in many of these cases.
