This is one of my favorite color patterns, and certainly not a goal for
someone who does not have the patience or room to grow and select from tons
of seedlings.
I give the hybridizers a lot of credit when it comes to this pattern for an
iris. It seems as if it takes triple the work to get a good Luminata for
introduction.
With that in mind, and with all the information presented regarding the
vigor/weaknesses/poor bud count of this patterned iris, would a judge or
should a judge consider this at all when evaluating a show and or be more
tolerant? Does it seem right to hold a Luminata to the same standards of the
vigorous selfs that are on the show bench? I know there are points given
for branching, bud count, vigour, etc, but you are also supposed to KNOW
your irises and judge them accordingly, while at the same time taking into
consideration the local weather conditions they were grown in.
