Wendy, lavenders like lime, even more than TB's do. They also like fairly
good drainage. Perhaps raised beds, or a bit of sand or fine stone mixed in
would help.

I miss mine from our old place. The bird life was great, specially the honey
eaters. The new people have chopped them all out, along with a lot of the
wattles etc. They profess to like the birds, but have almost completely
destroyed their habitat. Despite our cat, we had prolific bird life. I miss
that here, as the garden has a long way to go.

I am one of these. Buddleias actually do better if pruned hard once or twice
a year. I cut mine back to around 2' tall after bloom, and it is a good idea
to trim them a little before they make flower buds, to keep them from
getting too tall, and to increase the amount of bloom.
Cheers Jan in Aus, also getting ready to plant out (pot up) TB's from
Colleen, and from Barry Blyth.
