Hi all,
Well, I didn't expect to see any more Iris flowers this year, but 'Cyanea'
through up a flower stalk and the first flower was opening on Friday.
Saturday night it dropped to 23F, so the flower was blasted, and probably
the other bud too. Actually I'm amazed that the flower stalk developed all
the way, because the Saturday before it dropped to 19F (the coldest night
so far). It was 65F and 41F yesterday and this morning, but alas, to
little too late for poor 'Cyanea'. It was good for the butterflies and
grasshoppers though, the yard is still full of them, all over the only
thing still blooming - Rosemary.
This is the dwarf 'Cyanea'; I believe it is an I. lutescens cultivar?
