Linda Mann's comments about yellows with a melon cast possibly looking more
"gold" brought Joe Ghio's CORDOBA to mind.  Described as "mango orange; F.
with reddish cast; beards red" I saw it more as a somewhat apricot-toned
golden yellow here this year.  Mind you, this is new soil, much too acid as
not limed at all, and low on adequate organics to mellow the sticky red clay.
That may affect the color, but the plant certainly is enjoying the sun.  It is
growing in the one area I have out from under the trees and away from roots.

I don't think the melon cast did much to enhance the "gold" effect however.
It vered to the apricot, not gold.  Of course, I tend to see and interepret
colors in terms of edibles....I find that almost funny sometimes.  I describe
colors with words like "cranberry," "sherbet" and "chocolate" until I get to
the blues.  There isn't much that is blue that is good to eat.....
