I thought he mentioned the lithium batteries, but maybe it was somewhere else. I read a comment that the lithium batteries are good to carry for backup because they retain their initial charge longer.
As to the cost, that is strictly a question of battery life versus cost (to me anyway). If last 10 times longer than alkaline ones but only cost 4 times as much... no brainer.
