Hi,
I think I heard somewhere using some names is restricted by AIS but the
exact information I can't remember. Anyone?
And I agree with you on the name that are easy to pronounce except to
Kasperek names. I love his. They make me smile.

I enjoy imaginative names that make me want to see what the flowers
attached to them look like. I do not like names that I can not
comfortably pronounce. I find that if I am uncertain of a
pronounciation, I will conveniently "overlook" that iris while showing my
iris beds to garden visitors.
I have often wondered why more hybridizers don't use proper names for
their intros. From a strictly marketing standpoint, I would think it a
very wise strategy. I know a lot of folks search for plants that carry
names of their friends and family. I bet any iris containing the name
"Emily" or "Michael" would sell like hotcakes. EMILY'S EXCITEMENT or
MICHAEL'S MISCHIEF would end up in grandparent's and parent's gardens
across the country. Same thing with the most popular pet names.
