RE: HYB:Zonals
Stepping Out is a plicata that has either one or two pl-lu (luminata gene). Luminata gene produces different patterns with pl gene then when combined with pl-a (glaciata gene). Remember, the "luminata"pattern is not caused by the luminata gene putting colour between veins so much as glaciata gene removing it from veins (or preventing it from developing). Could be the same thing with zonals. That is the glaciata gene is working at removing/preventing anthocyanin and works from the beard out. Thus a plicata with four luminata genes may not look much different then a self ( one speculation)

Hey! I just realized, this discussion may have cleared up one of my
questions/mysteries!
I've been trying to figure out how Over and Over happened with Matrix and
Suky as parents. Suky being a plicata may answer this?
But it brings up another question that I'd not considered. Do zonals 'carry'
regular/other plicata genes? Over and Over would seem to say, "yes!"
Is the mud thinning? Or just getting thicker?
