I couldn't remember the term given to an epithet given to a hybrid between
two species as governed by the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature
when I sent my last post on the subject. It is a "nothospecies". For
anyone interested, below is a link to the ICBN table of contents, and if
you go down to Appendix I, that is where the rules governing the naming of
hybrid or "notho" taxa can be found.
The overall document is pretty heavy reading, but anyone mystified by the
"whys" of botanical nomenclature, this is the set of rules that everyone
must follow.
Happy Holidays to all,
Dave
