Hello, Everyone!
I am billing this as a Re-Introduction, as I was a member of this List and its predeceesor, Iris-L, until about a year-and-a-half ago, when I adopted the academic tradition of taking a sabbatical. Now, refreshed and renewed (and with the benefit of an upgraded computer system), I feel ready to re-engage with this always stimulating group.
I live and garden in Cache Valley in northern Utah, which is a very favorable environment for growing all types of bearded irises (there has even been a Dykes Medallist hybridized in this valley - DREAM LOVER by Esther Tams). Spurias and Siberians also do well here, and I have successfully raised a number of other beardless types from SIGNA seed.
I am a member of AIS and its local affiliate, the Logan Iris Society, and a member and officer of HIPS (the Historical Iris Preservation Society), in which I currently serve as Southwest Area Director and Commercial Sources Chair.
Reviewing the recent Archives, I was very pleased to see many familiar names appear, as well ones that are new to me with whom I hope to soon become better acquainted.
Best wishes to one and all for a Happy New Year and the greatest year of irising ever in 2005!
Jeff Walters
