One difference in the seedlings I both grew and LOST this summer?  I  put 
fertilizer and lime down several weeks before I planted.  In the past I  planted 
without the fertilizer and then used Miracle Grow in the soaker  hoses.  Last 
year I only watered with no MG because it was so hot I was  afraid I'd fry 
them.  All were in virgin soil.  Well . . . I still  think it's the crosses, 
since some crosses are growing well while others  didn't.
