Hello Betty
i know i will sound stupid and i might have missed your point... but why do
you want to use Lemon Reflection with a reb that dropped the plicata gene
instead of using an iris that has no plicata in the first place?

A relatively new goal of mine is to produce dark colors in a plicata-less
rebloomer?? The plicata genes seem to contribute to the white lines near
the
beard and in the hafts.
Is it possible to breed out the plicata gene?
1) Moonlight Duet contained (1/4) Memphis Lass (plic)
MOONLIGHT DUET (R. G. Smith, R. 1971), Sdlg. 6913 IR. TB, 28" (71 cm), M
&
RE
"S. greenish yellow (Munsell 7.5Y 9/8), white inside; F. off-white with
1/4"
border the color of S.; both have tiny flecks of lavender; yellow beard;
heavily ruffled. 6613 AR: (Memphis Lass x D19AF) X 6758AR: (D64AR x (Snow
Flurry
x Autumn Snowdrift)). R. G. Smith 1972 "
2) Lemon Reflection contained Moonlight Duet!
LEMON REFLECTION (R. G. Smith, R. 1976), Sdlg. 7511CR. TB, 30" (76 cm), M
&
RE
Heavily ruffled brilliant greenish yellow (Nickerson 7.5Y 9/8) self; self
beard. Lemon Mist X Moonlight Duet. R. G. Smith 1978
3) I crossed 1812 (Lemon Reflection with All Revved Up) in the hopes that
the
plicata gene would have carried from Moonlight Duet to Lemon Reflection.
The goal was a red on yellow reblooming plicata. With over 120 bloomed
from
this cross I got LOTS of rebloom! Various shades of grayed gold,
lavender,
blue and a lot of overlays. Some overlapping falls and ruffles. No
plicatas!
So the rebloom from Memphis Lass did NOT carry over to Lemon Reflection!
At
least it wasn't expressed in this cross.
At this point, I have a theory that I could use Lemon Reflection to come
up
with a line of rebloomers that wouldn't transfer the plicata gene! I
might
be able to find others that have dropped the plicata gene! By crossing
with
plicatas.
Thoughts??
