Hello, Everyone,
Over the several years that I've been pollen daubing, my goal has been
to develop vigorous, distinctive pink TB irises. I now have a few that
meet those standards. Perhaps it seemed too easy. I have now added
another, rebloom. One problem I have is too few pink rebloomers for
breeding stock. Pink Attraction did so poorly here that I finely put it
out of its misery. Diamond Blush died on its own. When You Wish
bloomed out. Pink Champagne is a vigorous pink which carries rebloom
genes and has been reported to rebloom somewhere. I have used it
heavily in my hybridizing. I now have Lauer's reblooming pink, Peggy
Sue.
My best rebloomer is the seedling I registered this year as Cloud
Reflection, a tangerine bearded white from Mesmerizer X Pink Champagne.
It has a pink reblooming sibling that is as weak and scrawny as CR is
strong and magnificent. I still have it, but I don't know if it is
worth while to try to cross it with another pink rebloomer to try to get
something better or not. I crossed CR with an interesting pink seedling
from Lady Friend X Bubbling Along. I don't know if there is any rebloom
possibility there or not. I spent this afternoon planting its big, fat
seeds. I will post the pictures of the parents on Iris Photos where one
can look at them if interested.
