RE: HYB: Seeds Germinating

I don't label them all individually. If I open a burrito and find 5 sprouts,
I get a pot big enough and plant all 5 in it.

Can't imagine how that communion cup thing would be good. By about
2 months, roots are growing out of the bottom of 6" tall pots. Would like
to see a picture of that if you can.

I will confess to fudging a little. If I'm finding sprouts every time I
look,
I use a pot bigger than the number of sprouts I currently have. Start
planting behind the garden marker and go clockwise till I run out, then
mark the end with a small piece of window blind. The next time I look,
I'm liable to find a few more sprouts and plant them from the marker on
around, finishing up with the space in the middle. Once the first ones
start breaking ground, I quit planting new sprouts in that pot.

Paul's method would be a lot less trouble and for most crosses, would
probably get about 75% of what I got, (looking at last year's records)
to a good planting size by spring. Certain crosses, like my ones with
Poem Of Ecstasy, took about 5 months to sprout, so would have been
in bad shape, missing the spring growth season. If I can get a handle on
which ones are apt to come quick, I may try it with some of them next
year. Always run short on sunny spaces. Crosses with Immortality and
Frequent Flyer always seem to start right around 60 days. Started a cross
of SDB seeds for a friend this fall and 20% had sprouted by the 38th day.

Would love to be able to put my seeds in the fridge right after Christmas,
take off for some place with palm trees for about 3 months, then come back
and pot up sprouts. As soon as I win the lottery.
