An easy and simple solution is to just put it back where it was pulled out from. Don't try to replant it but just put a heavy rock on top of it and when the ground thaws in the spring the weight of the rock will push it back into the ground. When there has been sufficient new growth in the spring you can remove the rock and your iris will have been saved.

Never had that problem!  They just stomp on stuff here.

Sure wouldn't put it in the freezer.  I'd pot it and do what I
could to gradually bring it to room temperature and keep it
in the house until spring.

Essentially the same as if it had heaved, but all the way out of
the ground.  If you could plant it back and mulch it some, that
might do it.  The longer it's out of the ground and exposed to
extreme cold, the less chance it has.
