The Whenever rebloomers provide a lot of plant energy to there children. When crossed to Fall Cyclic rebloomers there are a lot of Fall Cyclic rebloomers. FB X Autumn Tangerine = half + seedlings rebloom. FB X Victoria Falls about half rebloom. FB X Immortality= a lot of ugly oncers.
What you have with Immortality X Celebration song is not clear. Could be a gene recombination of the two genes needed for FC rebloom. That is absence of vernalization genes plus absence of daylight dormancy gene. Combined, one from one parent , other from other parent. FB X Celebration Song = all oncers, but strong growth. Or could be extended season rebloom. That is plant reaches maturity early and then has five months of growth, triggering "false Spring" trigger.
Quite certain Immortality doesn't have gene combination for FC rebloom. Apparent cycle rebloom children have shown up in several crosses here with IMM as pod parent. The pollen parents haven't rebloomed here, but like you've said, that doesn't mean the genes aren't there. The one that doesn't seem to fit is IMM X CSONG - 2 cycle rebloomers out of more than 40 surviving seedlings, most are overly enthusiasticgrowers that haven't rebloomed in 10 yrs (i.e., the weed, the other weed
etc).?Not high enough to be 'normal' dominant ratio coming from either pod OR
pollen parent. CSONG is reported to rebloom some places. Other genes interfering? confused about temperature triggers, diff sets of genes trying to start growing, others trying to stop? > I haven't seen any information saying Immortality has Fall Cyclic genes. My evidence says it doesn't. > > Chuck Chapman I don't know what to think about HARVEST OF MEMORIES. I <think> it's a cycle - haven't heard that it reblooms in summer anywhere (other than maybe Oz & CA), but in spite of a lot of crosses with it, the only one that has produced <any> rebloom seedlings here is the one with RENOWN(or at least I can't think of any others - will check - seems like there
have been several that have had fall maiden bloom, but never bloomed in fall again).Maybe they just haven't been quite strong enough or too few survivors to
win the percentage game. What's your experience with TBs fall cycle x whatever crosses? Do you usually see the expected %age of cycle children? I don't usually have the opportunity to make crosses with cycle bloomers - frozen spring &fall, so unless they are really enthusiastic and keep trying, with stalk
production spread out a little, no blooms to work with. HoM is later, so usually fertile.
