The challenge for creating surveys is how to reach the most people with as little cost as possible. Also are the people you are reaching representative of all groups with a vested interest? With the tools that are available we did the best we could. But not everyone at every step cooperates to send the surveys on to their constituents. 
We are going to try some new ways of doing surveys while still trying to keep the cost low. One tool is "Survey Monkey" which will cost us because I expect more than 100 responses based on the past surveys. 
Look for at least a couple of surveys in January. I am open to suggestions of questions you would like in additional surveys. The results will be public as always. But if you can not find them or have missed them then I suggest you contact me within a resonable period of time and I will get them to you. I am not going back and looking for the results of the old surveys at this point, it is huge waste of time. I can tell you approximate figures off the top of my head, but finding all the exact data would strain my work time. But I will gladly provide info on new more current surveys as they are developed. I do not get paid for the 40+ hours a week I put into this job and I treasure my weekends, so please try not to increase my workload. I am always looking for assistants who can accomplish various tasks. What are you good at?

Tom was very thorough in addressing each of Eugene's questions except for the last regarding did we ask. Yes we did, in a number of surveys. We also had a bylaws vote to enable the creation of E-Membership and much has been in the Bulletins, messages to the Affiliates, notes on this forum and on the website. We really do try to discover our members thoughts about changes and there are more surveys being planned as I speak to occur in a number of forums. I know that everyone does not read everything in the Bulletin. I confess I rarely do either. That is why we try to communicate over a wide range of forums, but even so it is possible to miss or forget about these conversations. If any one has some ideas about how to communicate better that is my job as PR Committee and please feel free to contact me.  Bob Pries

There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding out there about Iris Register
and Emembership. Here is what's true.

   - Anyone who was a paid up Irisregister Subscriber as of 11/29/11
   automatically became an Emember with the same expiration date as their Iris
   Register membership.
   - An email was sent to all Iris Register subscribers 11/29/11 giving
   them their new ID & Password.
   - If they didn't see the email and haven't changed their email address I
   suggest they look in their "SPAM" or "DELETED" folders.
   - If they changed their email address from the one they used when they
   took out the Iris Register membership then they obviously didn't get the
   memo. Anyone who finds themselves in this situation can drop me a line and
   I will immediately send them their *NEW* ID & Password.
   - The 2010 Introductions are in Iris Register.
   - Regular AIS Membership is separate and distinct from Emembership. If
   you are receiving a paper copy of "IRISES The Bulletin of the American Iris
   Society" you will continue to do so. Nobody with an existing AIS membership
   has been or will be switched to an Emembership ever! Neither will you ever
   be required to be an Emember as opposed to a "paper" member. You can be
   either or both, your choice.
   - Regarding multiple clicks to get to Iris Register. Once you're in with
   your new ID & Password, Bookmark the page the same way it was done the
   first time it was used. Your computer will ask if you want it to remember
   the password, say yes and you're done.
   - For those of you who are only interested in the Iris Register as a
   research tool and don't care to take advantage of the other perks of
   Emembership, that's fine, don't use them.
