Actually, WABASH was one of the last really famous recessive amoena pattern
irises introduced.  There were a few others, such as ELIZABETH NOBLE, but
none reached the glory that came to WABASH. Since Paul Cook introduced WHOLE
CLOTH very few hybridizers have worked with recessive amoenas.  

There probably is a lot of breeding potential in this class still for someone
who has lots of patience...they are notoriously hard to get anything of merit
from.  Seeds tend to germinate poorly, and offspring are seldom better than
the parents.  Lloyd Zurbrigg has a lot of first hand knowledge on this
subject.  (I did try working with them some, but results were very
