Re: Species iris for beginners

I do not grow a lot of species but the one I have not seen mentioned is
I. Germanica. (I was told that this species may have been
reclassified?) This is one of my favorites. The color is exotic and at
least here in Lubbock it is reliable and hardy. Is there something I
don't know about this species?
The others grown around here are I. graminea and the pallidas,
variegated and not. I am sure there are many more including several
aril's that a friend is pulling her hair out over but these seem to be
the most reliable and the easiest to get along with.
