I can't speak with any authority about the breeding goals of the JI community
but it seems to me that, given the comparatively narrow range of colors and,
to a lesser extent, patterns in the JIs, all of which are derived from the
species I. ensata, it would be counterproductive to denigrate any
aesthetically viable formal variation, especially one which offers so
valuable an effect in the garden, particularly from a distance, and
especially the one which echoes the form of the species in whose genes the
whole shebang resides. Or is that precisely what is 'wrong' with with pendant
falls....
