Iris bucharica does well here in the Virginia Piedmont, under conditions
probably similar to those Anner has.  It is not entirely permanent,
however, where I have had it in the past.  It dwindles away in about 5
years, three of which it blooms.  New bulbs were planted in fall '98 in
better drained and better composed soil in a rock garden setting.  They
bloomed well and appeared to increase this spring.

Junos other than this one are hard to get.  In the UK, Paul Christian Rare
Plants offers a dozen or so species at fairly high prices.  Does Alan
McMurtrie sell plants? He has what is probably the most complete collection
in North America.
