Dear Jan,
Thanks so much for the kind thoughts.
Yes, it is true, these pox suck! You are one of the only people who offered
sympathy for my state, and it was well received! I know that probably
sounds strange coming from a guy, but when you feel this bad, and all your
friends and relatives just laugh when you tell them you have the chicken pox, a
little sympathy from someone goes a long way.
I did not expect you to send any cookies in
return for the ones I had sent you. However, I forgot to include my note
to you mentioning such with the box. Those were just so you could
have a snack that does not have nuts in it. I had just baked them and they
were simply the run of the mill nestle toll house recipe cookies.
I WILL be baking cookies as soon as I
am well and will make sure to get some "proper" holiday cookies.
I do like cookie exchanges with those who
make a cookie that is traditional for their families, because many of them go
way back. I also enjoy ones that are made up by people, for they
present the opportunity for variety. My neighbor just gave me
some Kringla cookies which are a tradition in her family
dating back to her Norwegian ancestors. I was supposed to help her
make them this year, but the pox got in the way. She gave me the recipe
however, so I will try it and have her oversee if I am making them right.
Talk at ya later!
Patrick
