RE: CULT: Broken colours was 2000 symposium

From: "Mark, Maureen" <MARKM@tc.gc.ca>

Hi Walter,

I happen to like variegated anything but I still won't vote for Isn't It
Something. It is a slow grower here and is susceptible to rot and borer.
After five years, I have only three rhizomes and have seen bloom twice only.

But there are others that are worthy. It is not only the fact that it is a
variegated flower but that they are good garden plants in cold climates. I
suspect that people like me are thrilled to be able to grow new irises that
are distinctive. Sandy and I were quite discouraged in our first forays
into purchasing newer irises. I think we had a survival rate of about 25%.

Have you tried Very Varied yet? It has been the best performer for me in
the broken colours. Tiger Honey is second on my list.

And Bill,

We won't put you on the hit list for not liking broken colours nor
Thornbird. We'll just put you on the eccentric list [grin].
