Janet,

There's a photo of CHERRY SMOKE on my page if you want to see what it looks 
like. I wouldn't really call this one a red-black... it's definitely more 
purple-black here.

The most intense red-black TB I've grown here is NIGHT LADY (there's a 
photo of it posted as well). The URL is listed at the bottom. Just click on 
Irises once the page is up, then TBs.

Both of these needed quite a bit of time and a warm location before they 
decided they liked it here so I'd think they'd do well in a warmer climate.
