Hello, everyone. I've been listening in on all of you for several
days; I guess it's time I admitted it! (Any of you oldtimers remember
what it was to "pike" on country telephone lines?)
Since summer '97, Irv & I have been your AIS Storefront. Now that the
AIS has bought us an iMac (thanks to JIJones), we can take credit card
orders by e-mail. (This will be in the next Bulletin, but you "in-
siders" can start now if you like.) Give us your name EXACTLY as it is
on the card, Visa or MC # with expiration date, the items requested,
and your SHIPPING ADDRESS. (E-mailers, especially, tend to forget
that we
do need the snail-mail address) If you're concerned about credit card

Irv & I raise the following irises: TB:, IB:, SDB:, MTB:, BB:, SIB:, &SPU:
We've given up on JI: and have just re-tried a few LA:, planted last
summer. We are in central IL--sixty miles north of St. Louis, MO. This
is a tough Zone 5 area; we can have snaps down to -15 with bare ground,
no snow, and dry 100+ in the summer.
A few responses to various recent topics: Re broken color, Batik,
Very Varied, and Sonja's Selah have done well--I've even had "Best BB"
purple ribbons with B and SS. Some of Brad K's are newly planted and
haven't proved themselves yet. To the person asking about great blacks:
for great hardiness, my favorite ever since it came out in '90 or '91
has been Night Ruler. One spring after a terrible wind and hail storm,
it was one of the few still standing undaunted. We've added quite a few
SA:; Thornbird is splendid. Not much rebloom here, because I refuse to
spend all summer watering, but one lovely little exception is the SDB:
Smell the Roses. It has a clump all through October.
