In the early list days, i thought that if I planted enough seeds, surely
a plant or two would at least live long enough to bloom, as several
folks in the eastern US had reported. I was given several teaspoons of
seed by listers and bought a double batch of seed from Joe Ghio. From
all the seeds I planted (all outdoors, mostly in tubs of fairly sandy
loam in partial shade), only a half dozen produced viable seedlings. Of
those seedlings, 3 lived for several years, in spite of my fogetfulness
in taking care of them, but none ever grew larger than a tiny, 3 or 4
leaved plant. The last one seems to have died this fall.
I changed the subject line to <PCN> as given in the instructions to
iris-talk, which got me wondering what most folks who actually grow
these little beauties call them. PCI? PCN? CA?

reminder - folks are getting sloppy about not signing their names with
where they are again. Especially if you are sharing information/asking
questions about iris culture, climate (not just zone) is really
important.
