Actually I find the non American orientation rather refreshing. :-)
I certainly have noticed many mistakes in this book, but the section on
Hybridising seemed clear enough, and that is what Mike was asking about.
That is, after all, where this conversation began
(Mike - I presume you were interested in reading about genetics, not simply
how to dab pollen on a stigma?)
Most books for 'beginners' give a picture of an iris, showing the stigma,
anther etc., and telling you how to 'do the deed'. With a brief discussion
of choice of parents. Very few venture as far as even explaining about
tetraploidy in TB's.
BTW Anner, what country do you live in? I see that Dennis lives in the
U.S.of A and I generally mention that I am Australian, but few other listers
make any mention of which country they live in. With all the fuss about
Zones, it seems odd to me, that this is treated as unimportant.
