I've used Miracle Grow on irises mixed at the suggested dilution and
have noticed a considerable amount of rot. The neighboring bed didn't
get a dose of Miracle Grow because I was suddenly distracted and
forgot. Perhaps if I had chased the fertilizer in to the earth with an
equal amount of water , I may have been able to rinse any offending
nitrogen off of the rhizome which I'm assuming ultimately caused the
rot. The other bed suffered no rot at all.
My trees and cedars have really benefited from Miracle Grow the past few
years but not so much the irises. I swear by bone meal.

Mother nature is way too early for a massive thaw like this , another
receipe for rot I suppose.
