Re: CULT:Spurias for the south

Walta--

We are in the third year of our spuria experiment here in SW Ohio.
The summers here are not as hot or long as yours. We have perhaps
six weeks of 85+ temps along with (intermittent) oppressive humidity.
Some summers we have rain, some not very much. Last year we had
at least some rain on approximately 65/120 days. The spurias came through
fine. Most of the ones that have been in 2-3 years came from Redbud Lane
Gardens. So far, the single loss was one that bloomed out. The new foliage
that starts up in the fall stays green all winter, even in subzero weather.

While all have done well, the heaviest increasers have been:

MISSOURI BLUE, MISSOURI GAL, MISSOURI RIVERS, MISSOURI STREAMS,
VINTAGE YEAR (all Niswonger intros) and TWILIGHT MODE (Blyth).

The Missouri climate is probably somewhere between yours and mine, maybe
you should give some of Niswonger's intros a try?
