Hello,
I live in an area south of you and frequently do not have blossoms for 1 year. I think it has to do with iris wanting to establish themselves in clay. If you look at established clumps there is always the same amount of rhizome showing above ground on blooming stalks. Between soil settling, washoff, and winter heaving I have trouble getting them in the perfect depth. Nature usually takes care of it. Be patient and I am sure you will be rewarded. My iris are always fantastic the next year. Also on some of the iris that bloom within a year, I get 2 standards and 2 falls with few buds. As long as I leaqve them alone I do not have a repeat of this.
