SPEC: reticulata, danfordiae

They are blooming! Two established 'clumps' of reticulata are now up to
half a dozen blooms apiece in the raised bed of creek sand & silt. Most
of the original 3? year old planting has disappeared, but those that
survived seem to be thriving. One is the red purple with larger blooms,
the other is one of the blues. None of the original danfords has
survived.

On the other hand, the poor little dehydrated packet of bulbs that I
found last fall that had been sitting on the porch for a year or so has
produced 100% bloom this spring, including a danford. They looked
terrible when I planted them so this has been a very pleasant surprise.

The last 'rollercoaster' freeze here wasn't much - only went down to the
low 20s, so nothing was seriously damaged. That would be bad in March,
but this early didn't hurt anything.
