Because there have been several inquiries in regard to the talk on TBs at the
National Convention, I'm going to try to answer the questions, altho I am in
no way on the official committee - I just happen to know that TBIS has no
input at this convention, by their choice, or rather their officers' choice,
not to have TBIS become a section of AIS. The AIS National Conventions have
always been held at the calculated time of maximum bloom for TBs, with the
hope that weather would be kind and some other irises would be
accommodating.. This coonvention has been so arranged, with gardens in
different USDA zones (2 different States even!) There have always been TB
talks -- (the RIS, especially - a plug!) This year there will be a talk
about TBs by someone special (I haven't heard who the speaker is, however)
and there is also a judges training on TBs, also by someone special --- these
items are just part of AIS' service to members and each region holding the
convention decides what types get the emphasis at that particular meeting!
Now are you even more confused? Come and find out for yourselves what the
answer is -- you won't be disappointed, there is even an iris show - come
with your entries!! Hope to see everyone there, and bring good weather, good
spirits, and good humor with you!! Hope to see you! Fondly, Rosalie nr
Baltimore, USA zone 7, still under very cold temps with possible snow this
weekend. - but Spring will come, it always does, and in Baltimore it lasts
about 3 days and then turns into summer! ryfigge@aol.com
