Re: rebloom

Dear Colleen, It is certainly true that new ground can make a big
difference. I found that out years ago when my irises were not producing the
raves that they used to and I phoned dear Ben Hager (how we miss him!) and
asked why. He essentially said that my soil had lost its virginity and
needed fertilizer, irises moved around to new spots, and years and years
later I found that adding alfalfa-bits (horse feed - not rabbit food - there
is a slight important difference in the formula) made all the difference
in the world (Thank you again, Terry, for that revealing article about this)
And, of course, it is even worse for the JIs - they do have to be moved
about every 3 yrs. minimum/ Alfalfa-bits really saved the day for me - I
don't know what you have in Australia, but in the horsey-areas there must
be something! Good luck and let's hear more about your re bloomers! rosalie
