Well yes it is. Check out page 95, Pests and diseases. Only a 2 page
chapter, followed by 2 pages on propogation.
Inside the front cover, we are told 'This highly illustrated guide looks at
the wide range of irises suitable for growing in milder climates' and the
book does that well, without pretending to be anything else.
I think it is a better buy than the new NZ book by Pamela McGeorge and
Alison Nicoll. This recently published book is a collaboration between an
iris grower of long standing (Nicoll) and freelance writer who has written
widely about gardens and gardening (McGeorge).
Similar to Glasgow in size, and well illustrated, I feel that this book
tries to pack too much into too small a book, and fails. It doesn't have
anything new to offer, and the opening sentence in the introduction by
Pamela McGeorge 'There was a time when I didn't like irises.' tainted the
rest of the book for me.
Another one for the iris book collecters, which is the only reason I bought
it.
I still think the best iris book written in this neck of the woods is 'Iris
and it's culture' by Jean Stevens. An old'n but a good'n.

Where we have not yet experienced Summer, the sky is bleak, and good solid
rain is falling on my garden.
