Re: RE: TB: Edith Wolf. progeny

I have grown Thrillseeker, Ernst, '93, for seven years. Once I put a stalks of Thrillseeker and Edith Wolford in the same vase and quickly couldn't tell them apart. EW died out in my garden three years ago. Thrillseeker is still growing well though it is not a fast multiplier and goes semi-dormant in the winter. When I was at Cooley's last spring, I was very impressed with Talk To Me. It was larger than either T or EW and had more intense yellow and violet. I felt it was a very gorgeous iris ruined by a silly name.

I grow Jurassic Park. It is the largest iris I have. A couple of years ago I measured one of its blossoms that was 9 !/2 inches across. It grows and blooms very well here, but with its mustard yellow standards and grayed purple falls, it is not one of the prettiest, IMO.

In Don Shepard's garden last spring I saw a very striking and unusual bicolor called Kool Knight, Dunn, '97, I believe. It has bright lime-yellow standards over intense blue-violet falls. I thought it was so pretty I bought it. It is growing nicely in my bed of new acquisitions, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again.

I remember looking through the Cooley's web catalogue last year or so
and noticed that Rick Ernst had several intros from EW. All described
as better than EDITH but I don't remember any of the names. Anybody
know of or grow any of these lookalikes ?
