AIS Bulletin - mailing

Hi all: I tried to post this last night, but for some reason it never posted.
maybe I did something wrong. Anyway, here's another try:

Since a few people asked how the Bulletin is distributed, let me volunteer the
info!

All US and Canadian Bulletins are mailed on the same day from Portland,
Oregon. (I know the upper right-hand corner says something like "postage paid
in Glendale, CA, etc." but that's because Jill Bonino, as AIS Secretary, takes
care of the permit in her hometown of Glendale.) The US copies go via bulk
mail, and - oddly enough - the people in Salem, OR, almost always get theirs a
day ahead of the people in Portland (including me).

The Bulletins for Canadian members go First Class, because they used to take so
long when they were mailed via bulk. And copies to all other countries outside
the US go to a mailing service on the East Coast, and from there they go
overseas.

I've been hearing pretty good things about the shrinkwrap. To tell the truth,
I was not fully in favor of the shrinkwrap because I was afraid the Bulletins
would get damaged en route. As it turns out, I think my own copy arrived in
even better condition in the shrink wrap than it would have in the envelope.

We will go back to using the envelope for one more issue (April) so that we can
use up the supply of envelopes that were already printed. And then we'll
return to the shrinkwrap from then on, as long as I don't hear that people have
had problems with it.

Bruce
