You know, I always thought it was short sighted to use salt to clear the roads
in all the cold-weather states. Sort of like, "it comes out of a different
pocket"; but I expect the cost of plowing instead of salting would not exceed
the cost of replacing all the rusted out cars ans other salt damage.

Our home and iris beds are below the road level. This year the town has
spread a unusually huge quantity of salt on our roads due to the constant
snow and ice. The plows have pushed a ton of it onto my lawn.
Can anyone tell me if this will harm my iris as the melting begins and the
salted water drains down through my gardens?
