Hi,

Pictures are just the first step towards figuring out
"what IS this iris?". First look at pictures, compare
bloom -- then you'd want to actually grow your "this
might be INDIAN CHIEF" next to a verified INDIAN
CHIEF, and compare them in your garden.

HIPS is a wonderful resource, Historic Iris
Preservation Society,
www.worldiris.com
select HIPS
select "quick fix photos"
to see a lot of photos of historics

Argyle Acres has good online pics of historics also,

If he has a list of "this is what I had planted",
that's very helpful -- then it's just figuring out
who is who within that list.

Rescue and conservation of historic iris is a great
thing for us all to do!
