Re: OT: COMP: Digital Software?

Unless you plan to do a lot of fancy image tweaking (frames, effects,
borders, etc.) you don't need expensive graphics software.

Your digital camera has all the necessary software for producing and
uploading images to your computer. The size of the image will depend on the
resolution you have the camera set for. When you send an image through
email, you'll want to reduce the size to 50 KB or less so it doesn't take
forever to download. (Some of us are still using a 56 k modem. :-))

Since most cameras don't have a reliable resizing feature though, you'll
want to use a graphics program with this option. Rather than rushing out to
spend $, you might try out some of the free graphics programs available
online.

Two good ones to start out with:
20/20 is available at http://www.hotfreeware.com/2020/2020.htm .
Irfanview can be found at http://www.irfanview.com/ .

Have fun,
