The Nikon CoolPix 5000 my daughters gave me is so far over my head it makes me
dizzy. I have to re-read the pertinant sections of the book every time I go
to use it. The software that came with it was just that much more stuff to
put on the computer.
To edit, I've found it easier to use the Microsoft Photo Editor that came with
MS Office for most of what I do. A few things are easier done on Corel
Graphics. If I need to crop it is far easier on the Corel program, for
example.
The software bundled with the camera does all sorts of things I haven't gotten
around to trying and for which I haven't figured out why I need. I'm still
working on the basics of just getting the camera to do what I want.
I was so used to an SLR that the camera was second nature and I didn't have to
think about how--I just did. The design of the CoolPix still just feels
foreign and is hard work. I'm sure as I continue my recovery things will get
easier and -- I hope! -- with a better iris year coming up there will be
plenty of subject matter on which to practice.
