I am new to this list and fairly new into iris. Would you please describe the horse pellet feed method of fertilizing? Also, what are the atributes you want in the horse feed, including the differences that do not make the rabbit food desirable?
Since this is my first message though, I should introduce myself. Hello! My name is Karen Breker, and I am from the southeast corner of North Dakota (USDA zone 4b). I have beautiful Red River Valley black soil. All my beds are raised with sand added. I am considering raising iris in the future, but for now they are for enjoyment. I have a total of close to 150 varieties at this time.
Thank you, and nice to meet you all. Karen Breker

I agree with Rita, Everyone should belong to and get the MEDIANITE. It is
one of the best sectionals and has been for many years. I have learned more
from it ! ! THAt was where I first learned - from an article by Terry Aiken --
about horse pellet feed and told our local chapter, so that everyone bought it
-- and I always use it, especially when making new beds! And you DON'T want
Rabbitt Feed -- Years ago (again) I phoned the company and they expklained it
was a different formula and not what I wanted
It comes in 40 lb bags - I think Terry orders it by the tons! - and it is
cheaper and easier to use than most fertilizers. Now, that's my good deed for the
day - love ya' Rosalie nr Baltimore, Md,USA zone 7 with lots of 3" ice
that is thinking of melting! ryfigge@aol.com
