The point I was trying to make was an overnight soak would not kill them much less a 20 minute one.
I soaked some TB's in a 25% solution over night by mistake. The borers were still alive the next day. I left them in the bucket for two more days and they were still alive. I killed them then, they might have died later anyway. The iris grew fine, they were bleached yellow, no green.

Hi Mike,
We never soak irises overnight in bleach solution. The purpose of the bleach
is to kill bacteria on diseased rhizomes and on rhizomes that have had borer
damage. Twenty minutes is enough and we then rinse with clear water, because
too much bleach can damage irises.
