Thought I'd add two cents worth here. Often this means nothing and is
being used in a meaningless way; however, in some catalogs and articles it
is used for cultivars that are hybrids of wild species (apparently first
generation only). They don't use it for cultivars that are derived from
other cultivars. All cultivars are species hybrids (or even pure species)
if you follow their ancestry back far enough, so even this distinction is
somewhat trivial, but can be useful. It is more useful if they just give
the parentage instead though!
