I haven't found either of these statements to be true here in the vale,
which is definitely <not> the land where most irises grow.

Guess it depends on what you mean by 'abuse' (our usual climate or worse
than usual? average disease exposure?) and 'strong' (big, fastest
growing, healthiest?).

<...Babies weak or strong will not take abuse.....The first to germinate
