Linda, The club I belong to maintains a display garden.? Our show has settled down to stay at a local elementary school.? The school?provides the ground and club members have total responsibility for maintainance.? We replace the cultivars on a regular basis.? We maintian approximately 300 cultivars.?
People that visit our annual show are allowed to leave an order with our club the day of the show.?We fill the orders and have them ready (bagged) the day of the rhizome sale.? They also choose from the show.?
Each club should work out the details to what works for them.? Most prefer this to trying to dig irises from our personal gardens.?
Other clubs buy rhizomes in bulk and resell to their members and local communities.? These rhizomes would be more expensive than if supplied by the members.?
This is our only fund raiser, but it has worked very well for us.?

Hi to all,
I've been told that some Regions have start up money that help new iris
clubs?
What regions? Or is this true?
If it is true, what were the results of your efforts and how did you fund
this. Do you feel the
money was wasted or put to good use?
I've written Kathy Chilton for Region 15 and she informs me we have a very
tight budget
for our region and to not get my hopes up.
So I was wondering, what I, or in the future our club, could do to help.?
Or anyone or club could do that had an interest in promoting iris?
