I relayed Jim Murrain's question about reblooming spurias and received this
response from Jim Hedgecock,
forwarded here with his permission. Elfin Sunshine is a Comanche Acres listing
with boom period VE & L,
and is a pod child of I halophila.

Hi Mary Lou,
I have put that question to just about every spuria related individual I know.
There have been several instances of fall bloom in places like California. In
every instance, it seems there was a prolonged period of no moisture and then
the area the spurias were in either got fall moisture in the form of rains or
the fields got flooded. So to answer your question, I don't know of any
rebloomers in spurias. I noticed that listing on Elfin sunshine, and I am not
sure why Charlie listed it that way. Charlie had several instances of spurias
planted in fields and dried out for the summer and then through irrigation
errors, the fields were flooded. AT that point, several varieties rebloomed.
There was also alot of rot in these instances, as you might imagine. I still
have one of these seedlings and I have quested it around several parts of the
country hoping I would get rebloom reports. I have had none.
Thanks for asking. Anytime you have questions on spurias, I will be happy to
put my 2 cents worth in.

Respectfully,

Jim Hedgecock
