The best way to learn about your irises is to subscribe to the iris register
for $10.00 per year. When you enter the iris name it will pull up with all
registration information. You can trace the ancestors all the way back. Just
keep putting in the names of parents, grandparents etc. www.irisregister.com
Once you get to the website information is available for signing on.

o I get more info about the genetics of the iris I have? I don't have the
arents of all that I have. Most are recent introductions since I am just
tarting the garden.>>
<<Where do I get the alphabet soup to go with the characteristics? (Aaa, BB,
etc.) >>

Not sure I understand this question. BB means Border Bearded which is a
class. There are AIS regulations for all of the classes. These can be found
in the Judge's Handbook available at the AIS Storefront.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, for the invitations to ask hybidizing questions. I'm just at the
eginning stage where I don't know what I don't know, yet! I've been trying
o decide the characteristics that interest me the most, but haven't really
een able to narrow the list down very much. I'm definitely intersted in show
talks and characteristics. I'm fascinated by the differences in beards. I'm
artial to the amoenas and bitones, but like all the others also. Well not
licatas as much. (By the way how is amoena pronounced?) I plan to start
ith TBs,MTBs and dwarfs, but randomly ordered about 9 pkgs of other seeds
rom Signa justs for practice and to see if I could get something else going
hat would work in arrangements. So far I guess I do have two questions: How
o I get more info about the genetics of the iris I have? I don't have the
arents of all that I have. Most are recent introductions since I am just
tarting the garden. Where do I get
the alphabet soup to go with the characteristics? (Aaa, BB, etc.) I noticed
hat kind of information about daylilies a day or two ago on iris digest, but
t was too advanced for a beginner, so I mostly skipped over it. I'm sure
hat info is available for Iris as well, I just don't know where to look for
t. I've read "The World of Irises". Now what?

.S. I was thrilled to hear that I could introduce from Signa seeds with
redit to Signa. If I should be so lucky, I would have questions on the
etails of that later.
