I don't add crystals they come in the potting mix. I have used potting mix with out and seen no difference.

Thank you for your responses to my question about time to first bloom Christy
& Mike.

Mike, I finally had a few minutes to look at your website about pushing
seedlings. Thank you for sharing that. This was another question I had,
whether time to 1st bloom could be shortened. Glad you found something that
seems to help with that.

It is interesting to me that you note using the crystals as I put those into my cups of daylily & iris that I start in the winter months because winter is our driest season and it can be hard to keep plants alive in the house with such low humidity. The polymer crystals do a good job of evening out the soil
moisture over a long period so that I can get away with once per week
watering.

Do you always put them in individual pots around April then? Have you tried
anything to get this process started earlier to see if it would make any
difference? In fact this gives me an idea for some of the seedlings I left
potted from last year. I wonder if they would get a jump on the season and
maybe bloom if I brought them indoors now? Couldn't do that with a hundred (at
least not w/o a greenhouse) but I sure could try it with 5.

Lots of new green continuing to show up with my seedling trays. Starting to
get excited about the possibilities now. Can hardly wait for spring.

Blessings,

Debra
