Hi Char & others,

Moving and storing over winter can be similiar, I guess. I've just never
considered lifting my iris rhizomes and packing them away like Dahlias for the
winter or recommending it to others. But then I didn't have luck with the
Dahlias!

When I moved out here, I think I reported putting rhizomes in plastic bags in
my trunk after our club rhizome sale (July) and not being able to plant them
until Oct. Of course, they often survive just thrown in a pile on top of the
ground.

My surprise was not that the odd rhizomes survied, but that someone would
recommend it as a viable option to growing them in the ground.

This is a blog from SpringHill. Read all the way down. In the 56 years
've
aised irises, I've never heard of lifting and storing iris rhizomes in
aper
ags. Anyone else?
