lol, I read that too fast the first time. I thought it said, "I cut two
[stalks] to protect them from the hungry birds that are now on my dining table."

Hello Everyone,
After all these months I finally get to see a real iris blossom, two in
fact. It's one of my reblooming seedlings 63-75 (Wearing Rubies X
Epicenter). I had fifty seedlings bloom from that cross, all very dark red,
some black. I kept four from the bunch, the two with the best stalks and
bud count and the two blackest ones. In the next cut I narrowed them to one
of each which have both turned out to be quite nice irises. The very black
one I regestered last year as Midnight Kitty. It will be introduced this
year by Kary's Iris Garden. The dark red has proved to be a prolific
rebloomer. It has put up five stalks this month. The first one froze. I
cut two with opening blossoms to protect them from flocks of hungry birds.
They are on the dining table now perfuming the room.
